Irak-Rückzug Clinton warnt Teheran vor Missverständnis

Washington (dapd). US-Außenministerin Hillary Clinton hat den Iran davor gewarnt, den Abzug der US-Truppen als Rückzug der USA aus dem Irak zu verstehen. In einer Reihe von Interviews sagte Clinton am Sonntag mehreren US-Sendern, die USA würden den Irak weiter unterstützen.

So würde die Zusammenarbeit bei der Ausbildung von Sicherheitskräften im Rahmen eines Programms fortgesetzt, wie es beispielsweise mit Kolumbien praktiziert würde. Auch wenn die USA ihre Kampftruppen aus dem Irak abzögen, unterhielten sie doch durch ihre Stützpunkte in der Region weiterhin eine starke Präsenz, die der Iran besser nicht ignorieren sollte, sagte Clinton.
